Tom Monahan of Business First of Louisville is Named 2009-2010 BBB Board Chairman

The Better Business Bureau serving Louisville, Southern Indiana, and Western Kentucky is pleased to announce Tom Monahan, President of Business First of Louisville, is the new chairman of the Better Business Bureau Board of Directors. Monahan succeeds John McCafferty, President/Creative Director of McCafferty and Company Advertising, and was installed as Chairman during the Better Business Bureau’s Annual Meeting/Luncheon June 25, 2009.

“Tom Monahan’s leadership in the business community has been a model for any business seeking to prosper in a challenging and competitive environment,” said BBB president Charlie Mattingly. “These have not been easy years for the newspaper industry, but under Tom’s leadership, Business First of Louisville is thriving by offering products that focus on delivering value to customers and focusing on the needs and interests of these customers. It is this kind of customer focus that exemplifies better business and makes Tom a great leader for the Better Business Bureau.”

In addition to electing Tom Monahan as Board Chairman, the following officers were elected:

Gary Haupt, Tri-County Ford-Mercury, Inc. - Vice-Chairman, Business & Consumer Affairs;

H. Powell Starks, Frost Brown Todd, LLC - Vice Chairman, Membership & Marketing;

Stephen E. Fischer, Kosair Children’s Hospital - Vice-Chairman, Budget, Finance, Audit, & Personnel/Treasurer;

Thomas Smith, American Bank & Trust - Vice Chairman, Bowling Green Area Business Advisory Committee;

Keith Johnson, First Federal Savings Bank - Vice Chairman, Elizabethtown & Lincoln Trail Area Business Advisory Committee;

Ellen Jones, AT&T – Secretary;

John McCafferty, McCafferty and Company Advertising – Immediate Past Chair
